Castle of Lissingen (Unterburg)

E-mail Print PDF
The base of the complex probably goes back to Roman times. The first time it was mentioned as the occupation of a knight Scheych von Lissingen in the year 1212. The oldest parts date from the 13th/14th century.

Burcht Lissingen

First an ownership of a nobleman from Prüm, than the Archbishop and Elector of Trier, later the meeting place for a rich rule. The Ministers of Trier and the gentlemen Zandt von zu Merl Lissingen have beautifully rebuilt the building and brought it into its present state.

Since the middle of the 19th century, the Castle of Lissingen has had various owners and was an agricultural company for a long time. A new owner began a conservative restoratio in 1997 and converted some rooms for gastronomic and cultural purposes.

Visit: the whole year.
